Back-to-school snacks you’ll want to pack for yourself, too

HHave you ever experienced the fears of summer Sundays? We certainly have—especially as the start of the school season fast approaches and the lazy days of warm weather come to an end. Whether we’re ready or not, this time of year tends to mean preparing to spend long hours away from home; this could mean studying for classes, packing lunch boxes, and stocking up on school supplies… all while trying to squeeze in the occasional hot girl walk (because, sanity).

And somehow, unsurprisingly, there just doesn’t seem to be enough time in the day to check everything off our ever-growing to-do list. So how can we stay in our A-game without becoming a hungrier version of the Grinch? According to Lauren Manaker, MS, RDN, LD, CLEC, CPT, a registered dietitian based in Charleston, one smart way is to stock up on healthy snacks that can help keep your energy levels up during the September sprint (and beyond).

Whether you’re getting ready to send the kids back to class, be the student yourself, or just getting ready to say goodbye to summer Fridays (sigh), grabbing some RD-approved back-to-school snacks. in your proverbial and literal back pocket can be your saving grace. After all, can we all agree that the “Trix are for kids” slogan is totally bogus? Snacks are definitely *not* reserved for single school-age children, in my opinion.

If a long day at work and overexerting every last cell of your brain makes you feel like Cookie Monster, these chocolate chip cookies will bring you back to life. Manaker notes that Mavericks cookies contain 40 percent less sugar than the leading brand of natural kids’ cookies, with just five grams of sugar per eight-cookie serving. “Mavericks Cookies offers the flavors kids crave, but with the ingredients they deserve. Seriously, we can never be too old for a pretzel from Aunt Anne. And when you can’t run through the mall to pick up one of those giant pretzels, these Cheese Pretzel Bites will hit the spot.
