Gilded Body Chic products feel as good as they look

APhysician’s assistant dermatologist, Blair Armstrong has always loved skin care. “I was the girl who had a 10-step skincare routine,” she says. But when it came to pampering, she didn’t do much and she noticed that her patients didn’t either. When asked what body products she recommended, she wanted to be able to suggest something she would use herself, but nothing on the market really appealed to her. She thus launched Gilded Body, a line that prioritizes luxury and ritual.

“I like my products to do double duty,” says Armstrong. “I want something that looks good, that’s effective, that’s high-performing. And I didn’t want to just buy a gallon of body wash. So I thought, if there’s any chance of consumers changing their behavior, practice a body wash.” .care routine, I must make it attractive, enticing, elevated, an experience.”

Gilded Body takes effective ingredients and puts them in beautiful containers you’ll want to leave on your counter. The line includes skin care products such as body oil, dry brushes, bath salts and more. They are meant to help you take care of your skin and your soul simultaneously.

Products that feel as good as they look

Beyond making beautiful products, Armstrong wanted to create formulas that would effectively nourish skin, because preventing dryness is about so much more than vanity.

“When we’re drying out that skin barrier, we’re more likely to have those little microscopic breaks in the skin barrier. So it’s less effective in terms of preventing infection,” says Ivy Lee, MD, board-certified dermatologist. the board based in Pasadena, California. “This is why we can sometimes get superficial infections due to very dry skin.”

The two great ways to control dry skin are exfoliation and hydration. For the former, Gilded has Marble Dry Brushes ($129) and an Illuminating Body Scrub ($45). For the latter, there are two really fabulous body oils, one for summer ($95) and one soon to arrive for winter ($95).

Marble Gold Body Pink Onyx Body Brush — $129.00

“Dry brushing is a great time to stop in the morning or afternoon and be mindful of taking care of your body,” says Armstrong. “Dry brushing really only takes a few minutes a day, or every few days, for that matter. If it’s morning and my schedule isn’t too busy, I take the time to use it as an opportunity to lavish myself and love myself.”

“The body polish, which is made with fresh, imported sea salt that’s harvested by hand, and I think it does a great job of exfoliating the skin,” says Armstrong. It also contains cupuacu seed butter, one of Armstrong’s favorite ingredients. “I discovered it during my [PA] training and it has so many great benefits,” she says. “It restores the elasticity of the skin, which is important for the body. It is described as a super moisturizer due to its hydrophilic or water-loving properties. And it makes the skin really supple and smooth. Kind of a lotion lotion, but better.

This is Armstrong’s choice in the summer. It’s great for rubbing into the body, but it’s also a fantastic addition to bath water to help skin retain moisture. This can make it possible for you to enjoy a nice long bath without irritating your skin. “I am a big advocate of bathing, not only for cleansing, but also for meditation, restoration; for me there is nothing like a good bath, ”he says.

Body care that looks like art

Gold products are in such beautiful packaging that they should be displayed on your dresser rather than hidden away in a cabinet.

“I really wanted to enhance the experience and create products that were beautiful to look at—not just nice to wear, but something that you kept in your eyes to remember how to use,” says Armstrong. “When we think of things that are built to last, a lot of them are made of marble, like some of the buildings or the coliseums, the material of choice is marble. This choice was really inspired by my love of art, history and architecture.”

Marble offerings include a candle, a bath, and a dry brush. The canisters are refillable and you can send the dry brush back to Gilded to renew the bristles when you’re ready.

“These are items that you can wear for a really long period of time,” says Armstrong. “Think about how many boats are created for single use. We see a lot of word of mouth, a lot of talk about sustainability. So I think it’s important to think ahead and make modifications where and how we can.”

Aside from dry brushes, Gilded’s refillable marble assortments include bath salts and a candle.

Nero Golden Body Bath Gel

Nero Gold Body Bath Bath—$165.00

This sphere houses a blend of French gray salt, Fleur de Sel de Guerande, Mediterranean black salt, and essential oils “to add an element of the at-home spa experience to your bathroom,” says Armstrong. “And the minerals are really good for the skin.” Once you’re out, you can get a recharge for $38.

The Armstrong brand is about taking care of yourself in a way that makes you feel special. The products are more expensive than many of the body products on the market, but if they are within your budget, they are worth it. It may seem so much easier to justify spending a lot of money on skin care for your face rather than your body. But with Gilded, Armstrong wants to change that mindset.

“There is such an imbalance: Our face is only 2 percent of our total body surface area, of our skin,” says Armstrong. “However, we spend 99 percent of our routine on face care. So I think it’s important to slow down and have a pampering practice that actually feels good.”
