Just like the skin on your face, your underarms also need a beauty regimen. And for me, it starts with choosing a good deodorant. While I’ve never been too picky about deodorant in the past, that recently changed after I noticed some dark spots developing under my arms. It turns out that certain ingredients in deodorants and antiperspirants, like alcohol and aluminum, don’t feel as good on the skin. In many cases, they can cause irritation and lead to darkening of the skin. But that hasn’t been a problem since I started using Kosas Chemistry Deodorizer ($16), one of my new “holy grain” bathroom shelf products.
What to know about Kosas Chemistry deodorant
On the one hand, it’s more than just a solution to mask your funk (which works really well). It is also an exfoliating treatment. In fact, the formula uses several alpha hydroxy acids, including lactic and mandelic acid. These help peel off any dead skin on the surface and allow a smoother, shinier layer to show through. HHyaluronic acid and pure aloe vera juice are also blended to keep underarms nourished throughout the day, and shikimic acid acts as a natural deodorant. And as icing on the cake, a bioactive peptide is added to condition and firm the skin, making this formula truly innovative in combating fatigue.
my honest thoughts
Kosas Chemistry deodorant completely exceeded my expectations – as soon as I put it on, I was immediately impressed by how refreshing it felt. The freshness of the gel was a nice change from greasy, chalky deodorant sticks that make my underarms feel like a sweaty mess. The deodorant is transparent and has a super fine consistency that penetrates the skin.
And to my surprise (and I say this because sooooo many products promise to brighten the skin), the serum really brightened my skin! Although I didn’t notice a change the first day or even within the first week, I was able to notice a difference by the third week. My armpit skin went from having a slightly ombre tone to being almost transparent, as seen in the image below.
As a bonus, youThe serum was able to keep me funk-free during one of the wettest days in New York City. That day I applied deodorant at 8 am, and when I got home eight(!!!) hours later, my sweat stains were barely noticeable. the The lemony scent of the formula also did a good job of neutralizing any odors I had going to and from the sauna that is the New York City subway.
All in all, the Chemistry is a lightweight deodorant that packs a punch. It discreetly combats odors and gives your skin a glow in the process by smoothing and unclogging pores. Plus, it comes in three different scents, including unscented for those who don’t like overwhelming fragrances.
