Anyone who’s ever waited in line for a cup of Magnolia Bakery’s famous banana pudding knows it’s delicious. We’re not sure how they do it, but the New York City-based restaurant makes a banana dessert so creamy and delicious, you’ll want to take a bath after just one spoonful. Well now you can.
Earlier this month, Tula joined forces with Magnolia Bakery to make a body wash so good you’ll want to eat it. The two combined Tula’s award-winning body scrub with Magnolia Bakery’s delicious banana pudding scent in a limited-edition scrub that’s absolutely delicious. As long as I didn’t AhemSo, I consumed the Tula Banana Pudding Cleansing Body Exfoliator ($36), showered with it, proving its claims that it would make my skincare routine even sweeter. The results are deliciously good.
what’s in there
Tula achieved rock star status with Well+Good editors and devoted shoppers alike thanks to its use of probiotic and superfood-based formulations. Founded by a gastroenterologist who spent 20 years researching probiotics, the brand believes we should treat our skin regimen with the same care that we treat our nutrition.
True to its pudding roots, Tula x Magnolia Bakery Body Wash is made with bananas, but there’s also Tula’s powerful patent-pending S6 Pro Complex™ and three different alpha hydroxy acids (AHAs).
In Spanish, let’s decode: That S6Pro Complex™ is a mega blend of six different prebiotics and probiotic extracts formulated to improve skin smoothness and pH balance. Essentially, it reinforces your skin barrier and keeps you strong. The blend of AHAs (glycolic, malic, and lactic acids) does the exfoliation part, brightening and evening out skin for a fresher look. Finally, a delicious blast of banana and lemon peels helps polish (and smells delicious).
because I love it
I am a girl who tends to stick to the same body wash. I have a hard time wanting to change, although I have tried a good number of gels and cleansers. I am flavor forward in my choices (I care a lot more about my shampoo formulations) in the sense that I know I will walk around all day smelling the scent I used.
When I first tried Tula x Magnolia Bakery, the smell was my main concern. What if it was overwhelming? Naturally, I’m a bit hesitant about banana-based flavorings, as we tend to associate them with fake yellow candy rather than literal bananas. Fortunately, the scent is light and smooth, not disgustingly sweet, which intensifies the luxurious feel of the ingredients.
The cleanser still feels gritty, like any physical scrub, but it lathers much more easily than I expected. That combination of textures really is the best of both worlds, giving you silky layers of foam (let’s say three times faster). A shower felt more like a spa experience than my normal post-gym quick rinse.
While I’ve tried other body washes that feel indulgent, the sand in the Tula Banana Pudding Body Wash makes it clear that I’m getting a thorough cleanse. It’s much more penetrating and clarifying than other formulations I’ve tried, and I like knowing that the *refreshing* feeling is the result of all-natural ingredients rather than sketchy chemicals.
The directions say to use it 3-4 times a week, so I’ve used it every other day to be safe. A little product goes a long way, so I’m confident my bottle will last a while, which is always a calculation for me when considering whether a new product is worth it. My only complaint? Using the scrub makes me a little hungry. Treat your skin to dessert, it’ll want seconds, thirds, even rooms and get a bottle of Tula x Magnolia Bakery’s Banana Pudding Cleansing Body Exfoliator here.
