Monday, Wednesday, and Friday are reserved for leg days, Tuesday for chest and shoulders, and Thursday for back. It’s fair to say that I exercise religiously. On Tuesdays and Thursdays, I do cardio (timed runs or jump rope) which always make me sweat. At this point, the skincare products I have applied have already melted onto my face. To make sure I’m protected from the sun every time I leave the gym or during an outdoor run, I trade in my usual sunscreen for a water-resistant one, and this one from Kinfeld stands up to all my sweaty workouts.
Daily Dew SPF 35 ($26) does double duty as a moisturizer and skin protectant. As a sunscreen, the Daily Dew has an SPF 35 and stays put through my 20-minute runs. Unlike other sunscreens, it doesn’t drip or sting my eyes when running, jumping rope, or doing high-intensity exercise like burpees. I have even sweated with this sunscreen during 90 degree weather, and the product stays on.
Formulated with glycerin and seaweed, the sunscreen draws water into my skin’s barrier, keeping it hydrated and nourished. It is also formulated with Aloe Vera, which has soothing and healing properties, Gretchen FrielingMD, a board-certified dermatologist previously told well+well.
Sunscreen has another basic ingredient: sunflower extract. “Sunflower extract has been shown to improve the skin barrier, something that is affected in people with sensitive skin and eczema,” says Rachel Nazarian, MD, FAAD, a New York-based board-certified dermatologist. As someone who has lived with dry skin and eczema, I didn’t find the sunscreen irritating or drying, so I consider it a win.
When applying, I squeeze a little product onto my fingertips and apply generously. Even though the sunscreen is white in color, it does not leave a white cast on my skin. The sunscreen runs on the thicker side, so it takes me a few circular motions to fully blend the product into my skin, but the extra fuss is worth it. After application, my skin looks dewy and glowing.
Another bonus? It is reef safe and does not contain any active or harmful ingredients such as oxybenzone, octinoxate, octisalate, and octocrylene, also known as the worrisome “Os”. Instead, this sunscreen contains zinc oxide, which the FDA classifies as a safer ingredient because it has fewer particles that could penetrate the skin.
I’m not the only one who raves about this product. Dozens of buyers also enjoy using it. “I was looking for a sunscreen that I could wear every day and really enjoy putting on, and this is it! It goes on silky smooth, doesn’t irritate me, smells amazing AND provides long-lasting sun coverage! The perfect sunscreen exists” said one customer. Another writes: “I started using it as my daily moisturizer. It’s lightweight and doesn’t have all the chemicals I try to avoid, like propylene glycol.”
Whether you’re in the market for a new sunscreen or looking for a sweat-proof one, this is a sign to upgrade to Kinfield’s Daily Dew.
