This Milk Chocolate Hazelnut Smoothie Is Packed With Protein

me I don’t know about you, but no matter how much research there is or isn’t on the impact of coffee on health, I’m going to start my day with that. However, I am working on ways to make it a healthier part of my life, like drinking one or two cups instead of five and making sure to hydrate with water throughout the day too (after all, coffee is a diuretic).

One of my favorite ways to get my coffee fix in the summer months is to blend it into a smoothie, and if you haven’t tried this, I’ll highly recommend doing it right away. Of course, you don’t want to pour very hot coffee into a blender, but a tablespoon or so of ground coffee really helps to give it a kick of flavor. Not to mention the fact that it saves me from rushing out the door with an obscene number of cups in the morning, because my breakfast smoothie and coffee are now the same thing, living in beautiful harmony.

This delicious, nutrient-dense coffee smoothie recipe comes from Dana, aka @oatsfairy on Instagram and TikTok, and features Café Chamberlain (which I’m also hooked on these days), but you can use whatever ground coffee you have on hand. pantry.

As you can see, this Milk Chocolate Hazelnut Smoothie is creamy, dreamy, and will give you that caffeine-fueled boost of energy any time of day. Seriously, what more do you need from a drink?

Speaking of an energy boost, know that there’s a generous amount of protein in this shake, thanks to the protein powder and flaxseed. (Flax what’s more also offers a great omega-3 booster to support heart, brain, and gut health.) The combination of flaxseed, coffee, bananas, and walnuts is also great for your digestive tract and cardiovascular system, while bananas pack a powerful dose of potassium — almost 20 percent of your daily needs — to support your morning workout, hydration needs or another manic Monday at the office. Cold brew beware – your summer iced coffee habit will never be the same once you try this creamy concoction.

While hazelnut butter is perfect for achieving Nutella vibes, almond, peanut, or even cashew butter will work well here too. And the same goes for nut milk: if you’re more of a fan of oat or soy milk than almond milk, go for it (added benefit: you’ll boost the protein content of the drink even more).
