Sometimes no amount of hydrating serums or strong moisturizers can do the trick – our skin is just also thirsty. Especially now, when the air turns crisp and summer blends into fall, hydration isn’t as easy as it once was. That dry air can wreak havoc on our fragile faces. That’s why going to bed with a hydrating overnight mask several times a week can be a dream come true for parched skin.

“Night masks are designed to help ingredients penetrate deeper into the skin while you sleep,” explains Michael Horn, MD, a board-certified plastic surgeon at Lake Shore Plastic Surgery in Chicago. “An overnight mask serves as both a barrier and a sealant.
